Finishes
Lucas Equine Equipment offers three finish options prior to shipment:
1. Powder Coat Paint
The Powder Coat process begins
with the fabricated item being cleaned, dried and coated with a
zinc-rich primer. Then the item is
electrically charged and fine beads of plastic are sprayed onto
the item. The item is heated to nearly 500º for the beads
to melt together into a plastic “skin”. This is a beautiful
semi-gloss finish; however, it will scratch and chip. This
powder is available in nine standard colors. Aerosol touch-up
paint is available upon request. Click for
color samples.
2. Prime Paint
An industrial grade, zinc-rich primer
in Red or Gray is applied to the fabricated item. This option allows the customer to
apply their choice of finish paint on site. On site finish
painting is very popular because there are no color limitations
and it eliminates the concern of scratching and chipping finish
paint during shipment.
3. Hot Dip Galvanize
The Galvanize option is the
most durable of finish options we offer, however the quality finish
we are known for is lost beneath the inconsistent, rough coat of
the galvanize process. The fabricated
item is immersed into a vat of molten zinc which allows a complete
coat inside and outside of the item. Immediately out of the
vat the item has a shiny appearance but will eventually turn into
a flat, light gray color. The benefit of this finish is a
very long life before any rust will be detected. This finish
also does not show barn dust as quickly as a painted finish, which
limits time spent cleaning doors and bar sections.
